MultiChoice has announced that it will "freeze the price" of DStv Premium as of April 1, 2019 and ensure that customers pay the same rate for their package.
The announcement was part of a media release stating that MultiChoice will increase the prices of some DStv packages from April 1.
"DStv has announced that it will adjust some of its subscription packages from April 1, 2019. However, Africa's leading video entertainment company has managed to keep the average increase below consumer inflation levels," MultiChoice says.
"As of April 1, the DStv freezes the price of DStv Premium subscription packages, which means that customers pay the same for their packages in the next year."
Customers on other packages will have a minimal increase, below inflation, added.
"We have a fantastic content for the coming year and would like to have as many customers as possible to enjoy DStv," MultiChoice said.
"We understand that times are tough in South Africa and that our customers are under pressure to make every cent they use. As such, we keep DStv as affordable and accessible as possible to as many households as we can to ensure that they can enjoy good entertainment for their families. "
The packages affected by price increases and the amount they charge were not described by MultiChoice at the time of publication. MyBroadband has asked if these numbers can be shared.
Currently, DStv Premium costs R809 per day. Month, excluding the additional entry fee of R90.
DStv Compact Plus and DStv Compact cost R509 and R385, respectively. Month, while DStv Family, DStv Access and DStv EasyView cost R249, R99 and R29, respectively, per month.
