Coming from Irrational Games Co-founder Jonathan Chey and Blue Manchu, there are some bold statements to Void Bastards, which is a "revolutionary new strategy shooter" where you throw and endlessly string prisoners on a field a despatched spacecraft to do it over the Sargasso Nebula.
Thing is, I've seen some of these ideas before (not that it would ever deteriorate if a game is good or not). There is a Roguelitic side to it in how each death sees you simply returning with a new prisoner under your control, cell-sharred graphics and some rather ridiculous-looking weapons reminds me a bit of Borderlands, while the risk and reward to decide when to press and When you just want to book a ticket, I want to play The Swindle again. It seems like bringing all their ideas along with some of the Freeform Immersive Sim genres, which may be fun entertaining, and if polished and stylish, this might easily be one to watch when it releases.
Announced on XO18 during the weekend, the game will come to PC and Xbox One in early 2019, and will be part of Xbox Game Pass at launch.
