Gross domestic product (GDP) declined in 25 of the 27 federal units 2016 in 2015. Only Roraima, with 0.2% growth compared with 2015, made a positive trend the year when GDP fell by 3.3%. GDP in the federal district had zero variability in 2016, reported the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), released on Friday, 16th, regional accounts for 2016.
São Paulo's GDP fell 3.1%, while the Rio State GDP, in severe financial crisis, fell by 4.4%. Amazon's GDP, with a decline of 6.8%, recorded the worst result in 2016.
According to IBGE, only five states (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná) represented 64.4% of GDP in 2016. "The same group had a share of 68.1% in the 2002 series began ", says the statement from the institute.
Between 2002 and 2016, the highest cumulative growth in Tocantins (103.4%, 5.2% per annum on average), Mato Grosso (89.1%, 4.7% per annum), Roraima (79.5% 4 , 3% pa), Acre (76.8%, 4.2% pa) and Piauí (72.7%, 4.0% pa).
"On the other hand, the worst performances are Minas Gerais (34.1%, 2.1% pa), Rio Grande Sul (27.6%, 1.8% pa) and Rio de Janeiro (25.3%, 1 , 6% pa), says the IBGE note.
