Bollywood actor-writer Kader Khan dies in Canadian hospital – National



Veteran Bollywood actress Kader Khan is dead at the age of 81, according to Indian news organizations.

His son Sarfaraz confirmed the actors' death for news business in India, saying he died on New Year's Eve in Canada but did not specify where.

"The last rites will only be performed here in Canada. We have our entire family here," he told PTI.

Sarfaraz also confirmed that Khan had been in the hospital for 16-17 weeks before and had entered coma in Monday afternoon.

"We are grateful to everyone for their blessings and prayers," he said.

Khan suffers from progressive supranuclear palsy, a rare brain disease, CNN reported.

The veteran actor had star games in over 300 movies and was known for his comic roles.

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored Khan on Twitter Tuesday.

"Kader Khan Ji shone the screen with her amazing actions and ease it thanks to his unique humor," wrote Modi on Twitter. "Saddened by his death. Condolences to his family and admirers."

Kader was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and moved to Mumbai when he was a child, CNN reports. He was known for Hindu movies as Naseeb and Taqdeerwala from the 80s and 90s.
