According to the Ministry, the campaign has successfully vaccinated 100,000 people of different age groups in the health facilities of the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and the Health Care Corporation (PHCC), and in more than 45 hospitals, health centers and private and semi-government clinics.
The vaccination teams in the Ministry of Health have also carried out several campaigns for workers in many institutions and bodies, including the Public Employment Authority, the General Corporation for Electricity and Water (Kahramaa) and Qatar Post, as well as vaccination of employees in Nakilat and Milaha companies, as well as in a number of universities and educational institutions.
According to the Ministry, there has been an increase in vaccination coverage this year compared to previous years, thanks to the considerable efforts made by the Ministry and all relevant authorities in both the government and the private sector to ensure that vaccinations reach the entire population, especially since consciousness has risen among people about the importance of vaccination and its effectiveness in preventing seasonal flu.
The Ministry of Health underlined the importance of the initiative to receive the vaccine against seasonal influenza, especially at the beginning of the winter season and the recent dramatic drop in temperatures where vaccination helps prevent complications from influenza, especially among populations with high risk factors.
In this context, the Ministry of Health advised all citizens and residents who were most at risk of developing flu complications to consider taking the seasonal flu vaccine. This includes the recommended categories of vaccination for all persons with chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma and heart, lung and kidney, cancer, seniors (over 65 years), children aged 6 months to 5 years, pregnant and healthcare professionals.
The Ministry explained that vaccination is available free of charge to all citizens and residents of all primary health centers, as well as to 45 hospitals, health centers and private and semi-government clinics.
