Former Albert's Cabinet Minister Stephanie McLean has dismissed months after announcing that she would not seek re-election in the spring.
Premier Rachel Notley sent on Wednesday night on Facebook that she received the message from Calgary-Varsity MLA.
McLean, formerly Minister of State for Women and Services Alberta, announced in May that she would not seek re-election and said she was planning to pursue her legal practice instead.
Notley's Facebook post does not mention the reason for McLean's departure four months before the provincial election.
McLean was not immediately available for comment.
The politician made history as the first MLA in Alberta to give birth while holding office.
Before joining the legislator, McLean had started a small business, law and later partner to set up GTM LLP, where she practiced family and criminal law.
