Do you like to see the sky? the Geminids, probably the best meteor shower in the year, will have its flourishing time in the early hours of the morning Friday, December 14th. The best time in our country to observe them will be between kl. 01:00 and 02:00 in the morning.
This show, called "rain of stars", occurs when the Earth crosses a comet's circuit, the star's objects that leave a trace of gas and dust, When it comes into the earth's atmosphere it dissolves and shines.
The case of geminidas is "very special" because this meteor shower does not come from a comet, but from asteroid Phaethon (by Phaethon, son of Helios, the sun god), an exhausted comet, without volatile elements discovered in 1983.
Phaeton, measuring 5.10 kilometers, approaches the sun every 1.4 years, but is also the closest asteroid to the star of all known, even more than the planet Mercury, an approach that makes some of its waste is firewood that forms the grush valley that causes the meteor shower.
Although the meteor shower started on December 4, this phenomenon detects the maximum at night and early in the morning from Thursday to Friday, after which it will be possible to see "one or two meteors per minute". The rain will be observable until the 17th..
To enjoy it, you only need a good view and look at the sky past midnight and in the opposite direction to the moon, to avoid its brightness. On Friday, this meteor shower can be seen on the Sky-live.tv website.
