Summer birds win three statues at Premios Fénix – Film and TV Culture

The Colombian film "Pájaros de verano" won the most important prize for the Latin American Cinema Fenix ​​Award, a ceremony held in Mexico City on Wednesday night.

The film by Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego was one of the favorites next to the Argentine film "Zama", which won four statues in the Best Editing, Sound, Art Design and Photography categories.

"To honor the Colombian guajira, and that we continue to tell these Latin American stories that fill our blood!", Said the director and producer Cristina Gallego upon receiving the award for Best Fiction Feature Film.

"Summer birds" were also awarded the prize to Best female performance, delivered to Carmiña Martínez, who plays Úrsula, one of the main characters in the Colombian film.

In addition, he received the prize Best Original Music, composed of Leonardo Heiblum.

She was also nominated for the best direction, editing, fiction, manuscript, sound and costumes.

The Fénix Awards is organized by the Cinema23 collective, a union created in 2012 to promote Latin American film culture that attempts to recognize the best of cinema in Latin America, Spain and Portugal.

"Summer Birds" is the film chosen by the Colombian Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences to represent the country at Óscar Awards. By the beginning of 2019 it will be known if it is among the official nominees.
