The Czech Environmental Inspectorate (CEI) sheds light on the Rehabilitation Company Tower, operated by ASAP in the Havlíčkův Brod region. The company removes and processes waste and animal by-products.
"The company operated equipment with non-removable defects on the ventilation ducts for the bio-fitter in the biological part of the wastewater treatment plant. Exhausted air escaped directly into the ambient air," said Jan Panský, director of the CEI branch in Havlíčkův Brod.
However, the company not only polluted the air, according to CEI, it also exceeded the set limits several times from the wastewater effluent treatment plant. "Last year we dealt with extensive pollution of Pearl Creek caused by the discharge of the pond into the area that serves as the final phase of the wastewater treatment plant," Panský explained.
Pearl Creek is a tributary of the Sázava River and its stream was significantly polluted following the discharge of waste materials. "On suspicion of a crime against the environment, we referred the case to the Czech police," Pansky added. ASAP was fined $ 200,000. By law, however, the Authority can impose a penalty of up to ten million.
