Ethiopia's western region pardons over 80 armed rebellious interns – Xinhua

ADDIS ABABA, November 7 (Xinhua) – Ethiopia's western Benishangul Gumuz region announced Wednesday that approximately 83 young people were released, arrested during illegal military training.

The regional police commission said that 11 suspects detained to mastermind the illegal education of local youth would not be forgiven as they posed a major threat to the region's peace and stability, according to the news agency of the Ethiopian government.

The majority of the youth, who received the illegal military education in the bushland's near-region capital Assosa, are between 13 and 26 years old according to the Regional Policy Commission.

People who mastermind education recruited local villagers and eventually trained them to kill civilians and create devastation in the region, noted.

Illegal armed rebellious education is a recent development in the midst of a new violence of violence, predominantly triggered by ethnic differences, in cities throughout the region.

Last month, local authorities said if a dozen people were killed in collapse in Assosa and its surroundings. The recent deadly ethnic disputes often arose between locals and other ethnic groups living in the region.

The state, located in western Ethiopia along the border with Sudan, hosts the country's largest development project, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which is under construction on the Blue Nile River.
