The churches should end collecting because these are ancient testimonies specifically prescribed by God for the Israelites, the Prophet Prince Wonderful has said.
The Prophet Wonderful last week told Sunday Mail Religion that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ destroyed the "old ways" as giving tens.
The Prophet Wonderful said that he did not gather tithes and sacrifices and allowed ministers to use these to earn money. He said the preachers trusted Malachi 3:10 to take money from congregants.
The verse reads: "Take all the tithes in the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty," and see if I will not throw the tombs of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there is no place to accommodate it. ""
However, Prophet Wonderful said that the verses should be summarized with Malachi 1: 1, which says "Prophecy: The Word of the Lord to Israel through Malakij".
The preacher – whose church has no name but is "a gathering with innate" – said that Jesus did not survive from the tenth but that volunteers volunteered for his ministry.
He referred to Luke 8: 1-3, which says, "After that Jesus traveled from one city to another, who proclaimed the rich news of God. The twelve were with him and some women who were baptized by evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalena) from which seven demons had come out: Joanna, King of Chuza, Head of Herod's House, Susanna, and many others. These women helped to support them on their own means.
The Prophet Wonderfrul said, "I have never gathered a dozen or offers since 2013. This is the true gospel because Jesus never preached that we pay tithing. It was a Jewish exercise. We are not Jews but we were heathen until the death of Jesus Christ and resurrection.
"Paul also wrote in Ephesians 2 verse 11-16 that those who were not Jews were called Gentiles or unclean, but the arrival of Jesus Christ changed the game as everyone who believes in the Son of God is a richer of the kingdom.
"If we are followers of Christ, why should we stick to the dozens and quotes of the Old Testament? The true gospel is that pastors should not survive from the tenth but from careful support from those who want to support the gospel."
The Prophet Wonderful also claimed the baptism of water was an old testament that ended with Christ's arrival, which John the Baptist baptized with the Spirit.
He also said that the Holy Communion was no longer relevant because the crucifixion of Jesus' body represented the bread and wine.
"It's also wrong to say that it's a founder of a church because Jesus Christ is the one who started the church. When Jesus calls someone to serve, the main focus should push His agenda.
"We should not focus on being presidents or founder of churches; this is where self-strengthening derives from. These are how many begin to refer to spiritual fathers," said the Prophet Wonderful.
Other ministers disagree with these views.
Pastor Morgan Moyo of the New Gospel Ministries said there was nothing wrong with the tenth and declared: "There is no difference between the Old and the New Testament. We use the Bible as a whole. Ten are still relevant because God's principles still apply until today . "
Another priest pointed out that Jesus in Matthew 5: 17-18 said, "Do not think I have come to abolish the law or the prophet: I have not abolished them, but to fulfill them. For I say truly, until heaven and earth pass by, not a single dot, not a pencil, will disappear from the law until all is completed. "
