I did not get the diagnosis immediately
Giedrė and Gintaras said that during the general preventive health check, seventeen daughters with elevated blood pressure were diagnosed. After more detailed research, the diagnosis – renal failure is revealed.
From the knowledge of the disease, the year passed when the girl's condition suddenly began to deteriorate. Doctors had warned earlier that this could happen at any time.
"We initially responded to the diagnosis quite calmly and we thought it would not be so fast, it may be that drugs help. So we thought so until we came across the real situation. When the only question remains, dialysis or transplant is so can you perceive disease disease, "reminded Giedre.
Amber is open: initially it is not clear what the doctor says, although they have heard of organ transplant and donation.
We are all equal to the health.
"From today's point of view, I was able to say that, when we were completely green about this issue, they started adjusting our lives and attitudes to donation 12 years after our daughter's disease started. Life's assessment has changed significantly." We are all just before health, "said the man.
1 percent failure
When Giedrei offered to become a kidney donor for her daughter, the woman did not hesitate. Doctors believed that the transplant would succeed by 99%. Then the girl only needed a dialysis, which helped prepare her for future organ transplants.
Already on the first day after surgery, research did not show any good, the situation was only deteriorating every day, but doctors still delay the deletion of unconscious kidneys pending an improvement.
According to parents, transplant surgery is not complicated, but it is only a small part of the healthcare system. It is very important how the body assumes a weird body – it is used to prescribe a wide range of drugs.
"Many efforts were made to get the kidneys approached, but it did not happen," the spouses regretted.
Giedre does not think her efforts went away. If she could, she could do it again.
Dad's kidney did not fit
After two weeks, the unborn and non-functioning kidney was removed. Dialysis started: three hours a week after four hours to clear the body from toxins and the girl could live.
"While the health condition was normalized, the necessary documents were processed and the daughter was in the so-called waiting list for transplant, but it was true that she was originally expected to have a father's kidney and various studies were made to determine the suitability for this and even went to Warsaw that a strange body can fit more than its own, "said Giedrė.
After a while, the family learned to live in a rhythm: dialysis schoolhouse. Gudauskam's home was the hardest. When asked to clarify what was meant, a long break came.
After a break, mother with tears began to say, "When you take your child to dialysis and see how difficult it is, realize that if you do not dialysis die the child so that the only chance that the child is going to live is organ donation. The perception that the child went to The deal will not buy even if you have a million that you depend on others' awareness and willingness to help … "
Approved as inevitable
Subsequently, both spouses signed consent to organ donation and became unpaid blood donors. They remembered how much blood was needed in the daughter's mother's transplant, but due to lack of delivery, she missed another 8 hours.
"Do what you trust from others. Understanding of donation came through your experience," added Gediminas.
"The fact that information about organ transplant is much more than the time when our path began," said Giedrė Paantrina.
How did the daughter react to the whole situation? According to her parents, she had to get older than her peers. The girl embraced everything as inevitably, but almost every day the hands were hungry – not all adults survived these procedures.
"A Strong Girl", the daughter described the father who emphasized each other's support in the family. "" They can not come apart at the same time. "When you are in an emotionally weaker phase, others help, and the daughter has had difficult moments, but she is close. Inside, boils too."
The family is open: during these 12 years the questions have not been avoided, why did I do why, why did we do this?
Interruptions can even be a burden
According to Gudauskis, they were lucky enough to have a donor kidney relatively short. The possibility of living without dialysis has also been accelerated by the kidney being necessary for the child. They are always given priority if the organizational parameters of the organ donor and the expected person are met.
The family had quite a few conversations about the potential donor. Sometimes they would not have heard a sentence per month, but sometimes the doctors asked if the kidneys would be.
"This is a very sensible thing, because when we go to a hospital for more detailed research, we will eliminate the possibility of another person for whom the kidney may be more appropriate," said Gintaras.
Dieting or toothache can also remove the possibility of transplantation. Transplanting the body is only possible for a healthy person.
Preference is for the child
The family was likely to have a call on a potential donor at night. Provides a limited time to visit Kaunas or Vilnius.
Three recipients are selected for a body, then a large number of attempts are made and the most suitable candidate chosen for the donor body to be selected.
Perhaps five times or more, Gudauskai's daughter was one step away from the transplant, but considering the potential risk of kidney transplantation to another person.
"The final decision on transplant was taken almost by ourselves, but after we had exercised, we wanted to minimize the final risk. Even when everything was very good and it was not good for us, so when it was doubtful we abandoned it" a difficult one. The husband remembered the scene.
Giedrei was deeply enthralled with an unpleasant feeling of waiting while researching possible transplantation when all candidates gathered in a room.
"We all share the same fate as our competitors. Some adults did not say:" I'll give the little girl a little bit. "I felt very worried when I came with hope and it would burn again," she remembered.
Gudauskai has repeatedly seen how a person came to a possible transplant with almost the last hope of health and mental well-being is critical.
Amber said that he understood why, because dialysis procedures support life, but emotionally strongly and crushes.
Three weeks of anxiety
Good luck with the right donor family log in after two years of waiting.
"Some studies are good, the second, third, and with each study, hope is getting more and more, because there has really been a lot of research before the transplant," recalls Giedrė the fatal time.
Immediately after the transplant operation, the spouses must still be reminded. In the first week, her daughter's state of health was very bad, and then something stabilized. Although some patients have a good follow-up the next day as a healthy person.
After three weeks, the girl's condition began to improve.
"We never thought urine could have such a price," euphoric when the kidney transplanted began to work, reminded the father.
