All beauty routines should start with sunscreen, but many of us are forgetful about UV protection. L & # 39; Oréal and Apple hope they have the solution.
The beauty giant and technology announced the release of La Roche-Posay "My Skin Track UV" – a battery-powered portable device that measures UV exposure. Duo claims the electronic system, now available to US consumers to buy at apple.com and in selected Apple stores for $ 59.95 (RM251.11), is the first of its kind.
The unit uses an exact sensor activated by the sun to measure both UVA and UVB rays. It works in tandem with an app that tracks the user's exposure to pollutants, pollen and moisture, enabling users to make more informed skin care parameters depending on their lifestyle.
"Our research has long indicated the need for better consumer understanding of personal UV exposure," said Guive Balooch, Global Vice President and Head of L & E's Oral Technology Incubator, in a statement. "We created this battery-free sensor to integrate into life and daily routines, by those who use it. We hope that the launch of this problem-solving technology will make it easier for people to make smart, sun-protected choices."
"La Roche-Posay believes that smoother skin begins with healthy habits," added Laetitia Toupet, global manager of La Roche-Posay. "The research that went into the development of this technique showed that wearables have the ability to inspire true behavioral changes by helping people to measure and understand their exposure to various environmentalists and take action."
The unit, created in collaboration with the designer Yves Behar, can be cut into clothes or accessories and measures 12 mm with 6 mm. It stores data for up to three months.
The launch follows the debate on L & # 39; Orale's innovative "My UV Patch", an extensible skin sensor La Roche Posay presented back in 2016. Both inventions contain scientific research conducted in collaboration with Professor John Rogers from Northwestern University.
