Rabat – "What services for electronic pressures against social change?"was the theme of the National Forum for Electronic Press in Morocco organized Friday in Rabat, at the Higher Institute of Information and Communication, by the Ministry of Culture and Communications.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Mr Laaraj pointed out in particular that the significant development of the electronic press in Morocco over the last six years embodies the changes that the media sector experienced due to technological advances and a democratic structure that promotes freedom of expression and freedom of speech.
Mr Laaraj also examined statistics on the number of electronic papers reported and those that followed the provisions of Law No 88-13 on press and publication.
Mr Aujjar, for its part, stressed the need to look for an optimal economic model that could benefit from the emergence and upgrading of the electronic press which, while expecting its undeniable success in record time, poses the question of how to make the sector a service to society and democratic life.
In that regard, he said that electronic media have opened up major horizons regarding the proliferation of digital culture and the emergence of social networks. a dynamic that has also enabled a significant increase in the number of Internet users.
Mr Aujjar focused on the issue of the legal framework for the press while he distinguished it from the blog.
The minister also asked for the development of strategies and practical arrangements for exercising electronic press in accordance with ethical rules. According to him, the challenge is to implement the self-regulation mechanisms and the objectives of education and training.
El Khalfi pointed out that investments in the online press are a leverage for democratic development and development.
He focused on the successful development of the electronic press in the UK, thanks mainly to the unambiguous contribution of professionals.
The forum was also featured by four workshops "The electronic press economic model", "The Moroccan Electronic Press and the Statute of Deontologists", "Production of audiovisual content in electronic press" and "The electronic press company in Morocco".
