Hamburger – FC Köln H 2.50 (play stop at 20.25)
Clubs descending from 1. Bundesliga can often experience losing the best players to bigger clubs, but it has not been the case for either Hamburger SV or FC Köln. In Cologne, national team player Jonas Hector and goalkeeper Timo Horn have rejected offers from some of Europe's biggest clubs and decided to become the club's at least one season to bring Cologne back to the 1st Bundesliga.
FC Cologne has shown that they will return to the first Bundesliga at the first attempt. They are in second place with 21 points, one point behind the series leaders St Pauli and Mats Møller Dæhli who have a game more played than them.
Hamburger SV has also collected 21 points in the first 11 series. Only the difference between the goals FC Köln and Hamburger SV before the match Monday night.
See all the season's new Hamburger SV fit here!
Hamburger SV shows good shape. They are unbeaten in the last five matches in the 2nd Bundesliga, two matches have been won and three matches have finished drawing. This weekend they took a late 1-0 victory on the way to Magdeburg. It was the fifth time in the last seven games that they managed to keep zero. They have captured eleven goals in the eleven first matches. It makes them the second best defensive team in the 2nd Bundesliga, only Union Berlin has lost fewer goals than they have so far.
Last week, Hamburger SV also continued in the German Cup after winning 3-0 on the way to Wehen Wiesbaden. It was a good general test before the top match against FC Cologne.
The only thing that is interesting is Hamburegr's home statistics. They have only lost two matches this season, and both losses have come home in Germany's second largest city. They lost big in both matches. Against Holstein Kiel lost 0-3 and against Jahn Regensburg it went even worse. That match lost 0-5.
Hamburger SV has not shown very convincing games in recent home matches. They actually stand without victory in the last three games. They have played a draw in the last two matches against St Pauli and Bochum. In this game, the hosts must be clear without the Scottish striker David Bates.
FC Cologne has, for its part, experienced a lottery in recent weeks. They stand out in the last three matches in the 2nd Bundesliga. After leaving a surprising loss against the Duisburg battlefield, they have continued to disappoint the fans in recent weeks. In the last two matches they have played 1-1 against Holstein Kiel and Heidenheim. Last week, they also smoked out of the German Cup after losing a penalty against the 1st Bundesliga club Scahlke 04.
Anyway: FC Cologne is the main promotion favorite in the 2nd Bundesliga, and on the move they have really delivered this season. They are unbeaten in five away games in a row so far. The faculty shows four wins and a draw.
At the same time, they have only won two of the last six matches against Hamburger SV. This is a big game in the 2nd Bundesliga. Both teams are hunting for marketing. Hamburger SV has shown a little better form than FC Cologne in recent weeks. This will be a close and even battle. There is little that separates the law, as I see it.
But: Hamburger SV has to deliver at home to join in the fight for direct mail, org that they can not afford to do to disappoint the home team over and over again. This top match is quite open, but with 2.50 in odds on Hamburger SV, I think the home owner is most interesting.
