The International Red Cross (ICRC) and Senegal's Courts Training Center (CFJ) began a continuous training of international humanitarian law practitioners (IHL) for 15 judges from the 5 courts in Senegal, reporting an ICRC message sent Monday to APA.

According to the Legal Advisor for the Regional Delegation in Dakar, Charles Sanches, cited by the communiqué, the aim of this continuing education is to strengthen the basic knowledge of the referee's IHL in order to better respond to IHL crimes. The first session of this 3-year course will be held from 12 to 14 November 2018 in Somone (west).

"The criminal prosecution of gross violations of IHL is an essential element in ensuring respect for it," he said, stressing at the same time that the role of the national courts and senegalese judges in the implementation of IHL is crucial. .
