Real Madrid will sign on January 1 signing after reaching an agreement with River Plate over the transfer of midfielder Exequiel Palacios.
With an agreement already in place, the confirmation of the move will be announced after the Copa Libertadores final, according to Marca. Palacios will sign a contract that will hold him at the club until 2024 as Madrid continues to shy away from his Galactico policy in favor of younger talents.
Palacios made his debut for the River Plate four years ago at the age of 16 and has also been capped by his national side, Argentina, twice already.
The 20-year-old has cemented his place in the River Plate side with star performances in the last season and Madrid feels he can straight into his stuttering midfield and give a new dynamic with his intense off-the-ball pressure and ability to choose a passport.
While the conversation had originally stopped, it believed that Emilio Butragueno, Madrid's club director apparently softened the situation with a call to the River Plate president.
The move is expected to cost Blancos a little more than 20 million euros.
