Sergei Remennik will fly the FIA European Rally Championship flag as he competes for the FIA European Rally Trophy final in Portugal this weekend.
A winner in ERC2 this season, Remennik has qualified for the ERT showdown through his success in the FIA Baltic Rally Trophy, which he finished in the same first place.
He will challenge to honor the FIA European Rally Trophy for ERT2 competitors on what will be Russian debut at Rallye Casino's Do Algarve, which is honored to host the ERT final for the second time on November 16-17.
"It is a great opportunity to compare our opportunities with local champions from different regions of the ERT finale," says Remennik, who runs a Mitsubishi Lancer. "Initially, we did not plan to participate in this competition, and my co-driver Mark Rozin will not be able to attend – he is on a business trip. So I invited Marina Danilova to help me. It will be our first joint race; We will start working as a crew at the test runs in Portugal. "
With Rallye casinos, the Algarve makes an all-asphalt affair, Remennik acknowledges that he will face a tough challenge than the event driving on his desired gravel surface.
"It's harder for me than gravel," he said. "But it is amazing that we have the opportunity to participate in another rally because the next tests in our fast schedule were planned in late December in Finland, when we get free time and good ice. We have not planned anything except testing yet and that coincided so I have some free time and can not travel to this race with Mark but with Marina.
"It's very interesting for me to do that with another driver, especially a lady, because I've never had such an experience before. Let's see what's happening."
Co-driver Danilova is a four-time Russian champion and has experience of the World Championship, the Russian Rally Cup and at events in the Baltics with more than 150 starting his name.
