Sports fans can now choose the Swiss Newcomer 2018 for Sports Awards. The swimmer Jérémy Desplanches, the cyclist Marc Hirschi and the athlete Julien Wanders are nominated.
Votes can be submitted until 4 December via www.credit-suisse-sports-awards.ch. The winner of the election will be awarded on the TV gala on Sunday, December 9 in the studios of Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen in Zurich. In addition, the athletes and athletes of the year will be chosen in the evening, as well as the winners in the categories teams, handicap sports and coaches.
Internet users' votes are counted in the newcomer's election to one third. The remaining votes come from representatives of Swiss sports media and top teachers. The nominees for nomination for the newcomers were Swiss athletes who made the breakthrough at international level this year.
Jérémy Desplanches swam more than 200 meters to become European gold champion in August, making him the second Swiss European champion after Flavia Rigamonti. Marc Hirschi was the first Swiss cyclist to win World Cup gold in the U23 in September, which has already become the U23 European champion two months earlier. Long-distance runner Julien Wanders hit Europe's record of Mo Farah in South Africa in a 10-kilometer rush in mid-October and ended eighth in his first elite world cup at the half marathon.
