Samsung is considering building an optical zoom camera into an upcoming stylus, according to a patent first spotted Patently Mobile. According to the patent filed in February 2017 and granted yesterday, the stylus could send wireless images back to the phone or tablets that could possibly use the Bluetooth support added with the Note 9s S Pen stylus.
An S Pen with a built-in camera would offer a number of benefits. First, space constraints in the main body of a telephone usually mean an optical zoom outside the question. But Samsung's patent specifically mentions that the stylus & # 39; camera includes an "optical zoom feature." Removing the camera from your phone will also give you more flexibility in taking your photos – so you can take them from higher or lower vantage points while using the phone's display as a searcher.
As with all patents like this, there is no guarantee that this feature will ever make it a future product. But after Samsung fought for weak sales in 2018, it will need eye-catching new features like this to revive its smartphone business. Samsung did not respond promptly to comments.
